Not long now till the Christmas tree goes up, the doors begin to fly open on the advent calendars, and we start the real countdown to Christmas. But if you’re in need of some inspiration for your home this year, these are the decorating trends you need to know about in 2017.
Pearlescent
This decor trend for Christmas 2017 is definitely one of the prettiest trends on this list. With mesmerising colour shafts, pearlescent decorations catch your eye quite simply because they change colour as the light catches them. Incredibly pretty, these look gorgeous on the tree as the fairy lights twinkle and the translucent sheen is visible.
Quirky touches
Pugs, llamas, popcorn, jellyfish, donuts and more, it seems that pretty much the quirkier the better when it comes to Christmas decorations this year. All done in the loudest of colours, these Christmas decorations will definitely make a statement during the festive period, and will no doubt leave you feeling peckish too. Asda have an excellent selection of loud and diverse decorations that provide an interesting take on decorating your tree this year. The pom pom garlands are another must have decoration that comes with this trend, it really is bright and beautiful.
Lights, lights and more lights
And these just aren’t you’re normal fairy lights either, there are reindeers, snowmen, snowflakes and more. It’s time to make your home shine bright with an array of lights. Wrap them around your staircase banister, line fireplaces, frame doorways and more. These are a great way of adding an extra decoration to the room, plus they’re the perfect way to decorate the exterior of your house too.
Hanging icicle lights hanging from windows or the fascias of your house is a simple but gorgeous way to get your exterior ready for the festive season. Plus, if you have a porch you could add in a little tree and switch on your porch lights to show off your small nod to Christmas decor.
The metallic takeover
Metallic colours at Christmas are nothing new really, we’re used to seeing silver and gold adorn trees and decorations, but this year there’s a new metallic to embrace, copper. The rise of rose gold has seeped into Christmas decor and there are plenty of rose, copper and bronze-coloured decorations to have this year. This colour exudes decadence and looks beautiful paired with rich tones like navy and emerald.
