Personally I don’t drive, Jonny does but even though I am in my early 20s and still haven’t learnt that doesn’t mean that I don’t have an interest in our choice of family car. Jonny has had his fair share of cars, probably not as many as some people but there has been a few.

We were searching for a new car prior to me finding out we were expecting Elsa. Obviously as soon as we found out we were going to be parents our priorities and needs in a car changed. Everyone has their favourite and dream cars. These might not be the most practical but we can all dream.

Jonny and I have only just brought a new family car. It took us a while to find our perfect family car but in the end we finally did and we are so pleased with our choice.

Space – This one is quite obvious. Firstly seats – Do you need 5 or 7 or maybe more seats to fit your family? It’s very important that your car has ample seating space for everyone that you may need to carry. Space for a buggy is the next big thing to check (if you use a buggy) you will need to make sure that your buggy fits in the cars boot.
Miles Per Gallon (MPG) – If you live away from work or travel to school or maybe go away or have days out as a family a lot, it is a good idea to check the Miles Per Gallon for the cars you are looking at. You don’t want to pick a car that is going to cost you a fortune to run.
Type of car – Picking the best type of car that suits you. Hatchback – Easy to load up your boot but isn’t the biggest, still suitable for luggage or shopping or your buggy. Estate – Like a hatchback but with an extended body but with more boot space. MPV also known as a people carrier – They offer a lot of space and come in 5 or 7 or even more seats if you need this option. SUV or 4X4 – available in 5 or 7 seats and brilliant if you live out in the country side.
