I wrote a blog post back in February about the contents of my makeup bag.
A few weeks after hitting publish on that post I realised that in actual fact, the contents of my makeup bag changed on regular basis. Whether it is because the product simply runs out or I just feel like trying something different and new. Items in my collection change time and time again. All because I’m yet to find my perfect holy grail product such as foundation. I seem to be so indecisive when it comes to finding my perfect foundation so I just try a new one every time my current one runs out. My skin changes all the time, therefore it can seem an impossible task to find the one foundation that I will rebuy over and over again. This list is obviously not my entire collection but more what I use on a day to day basis.
Base; Like I mentioned before, my skin changes daily. So having one foundation isn’t really an option. I like to have atleast 2 in my bag and then a few more sitting at home just incase I need something slightly different. The 2 current foundations I am using are Bourjois 123 Perfect foundation and Revolution Fast Base Stick foundation. These foundations are completely different, the Bourjois is more Matt and less coverage while the Revolution stick foundation is more oily with full coverage. Some days I find the Revolution stick way to oily so I use my Bourjois. If I’m honest I’m not a huge fan of concealer as I find it to heavy for my skin but I do have the Revolution Conceal & Define as I had seen on social media that so many bloggers and Youtubers were raving about it. It is very full coverage and if you’re looking for a good concealer then I definitely recommend this one!
Shape; I’m not a cream contour / highlight kind of person, I’ve never really got the hang of it. I am more of a powder kind of person. To set my foundation I like to use a transparent oil absorbing powder, at the moment I am using the BarryM Ready Set Smooth powder. It is perfect if you have oily skin and it sets makeup brilliantly. I am definitely going to be repurchasing this. For bronzing I use the Bourjois Bronzing Powder, it is very subtle and you can build it up to the intensity that you want. Which I really like, it is easy to apply and for the price you get alot of product. For blush I am using the Cargo Beachblush, I don’t go through blush very quickly and I got this blush in my BirchBox in April so it is a perfect size for me. Lastly for highlight I am using Bourjois Le Petit Strober, the perfect subtle highlight. I’m not a huge fan of the whole highlight blinding trend so a subtle highlight like this is right up my street.
Eyes, Brows and Lips; I’ve placed all of these in to one category as I don’t really have that much variety of these products in my makeup bag, it’s one of each product. So for eyes I use Collection Volumising Mascara in black, I am picky when it comes to mascara. The wand has to be a certain way so like foundations I find it very hit and miss with what I like. Brows, I just use a standard brow pencil from BarryM. It’s the Brow Wow pencil and brush. I find myself doing my brows one day and then not doing them the next so I don’t want to spend a fortune on a brow product. Finally lips, again another Bourjois product, I don’t wear coloured lip products that often so I only carry one with me. It’s the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet.
Brushes; It is official I have finally moved away from the beloved beauty blender. I have 4 brushes in my makeup bag. A Real Techniques blending brush for my foundation, a Jack Wills powder brush for my face powder, a Real Techniques contour brush for my bronzer and a Spectrum A04 brush for both my blush and my highlighter. I like having only 4 brushes for my whole routine as it keeps it nice and simple.
