Our Welsh adventure with Haven – Hafan Y Mor

If you follow my social media, you might have seen that at the beginning of May we travelled to North Wales.
Jonny and I have been to Wales previously but this time was obviously different. We had to take 2 small children. North Wales for us is a 6-8 hour journey depending on traffic so we decided to go for a week instead of our usual 5 days. We love visiting Wales as it has so many amazing things to do, one minute you can be climbing a mountain the next you can be swimming in the sea. The possibilities are endless. While in North Wales we stayed in the very picturesque Haven park, Hafan Y Mor.

The Haven Park

Hafan Y Mor is around 10 minutes from the town of Pwllheli. Pwllheli itself has alot of good and useful shops, supermarkets and restaurants. Hafan Y Mor is a larger Haven park. The park has features you wouldn’t normally expect to find such as its own nature park which they use for their activities, Nature rocks. Hafan Y Mor does have everything you would expect for a family holiday park. The swimming pool is amazing, it has a wide selection of pools and a variety of water slides. There is something for every member of the family to enjoy. As well as the pool being open the majority of the day, they also run special activities for kiddies after the pools regular hours.

The food selection on the park isn’t too bad with a Starbucks to a Papa Johns pizza and family pub, The Mash and Barrel. They pretty much have everything ( I didn’t check for requirements such as vegan). We were more than happy with what Hafan Y Mor had to offer. With Pwllheli being so close, there was also the added bonus of what was to there aswell. The park had extra activities that were a small cost (you can buy an activity pass). These activities are bookable and cost as little as £5. There are things to do such as segway, roller skating, pedalos and karts. We decided to go karts and pedalos and we honestly had such a fun time! Even Elsa and Rory joined in, it’s fun for the whole family.

These activities are a bonus and there is alot to do on the park without these. Our highlight of the park has to be the private beach. Wow. The water was so clear and the kids loved looking for fish in the rockpools when the tide was out. We would go for a walk after diner just to admire the view of the clear water and Snowdonia in the skyline. Hafan Y Mor is a very clean park and the facilities are amazing!

Outside the park

While there is so much to do on site, out of the park is just as exciting. Snowdonia National Park is around 30 minutes away so you can go and look at the breathtaking views. Not too far from the park is Caernarfon, home of Caernarfon Castle. There is alot see there as well as the views on Anglesey across the water. We also visited Greenwood natural theme park, Aber Falls waterfall, Portmeirion and Betws-y-Coed.

We did so much in our week staying at Hafan Y Mor and we are already planning our next Wales adventure.

  1. Glad you enjoyed! This is my home! We’re in Caernarfon although moved here from East Anglia (I was born in Wales so we’re my kids) five years ago. It’s a great place with kids!
