A morning at The Ivy Brasserie in Norwich

I speak for a lot of mummies when I say that it is a dream to have a tasty breakfast cooked by someone else in a gorgeous setting without any of your own children running round.

My dream came true when The Ivy Brasserie invited me on their opening day to taste their breakfast menu. Of course, I said yes!

The first thing that comes to mind when you think of The Ivy is class and elegance. That is exactly what you are getting but with a slightly laid back approach compared to the original Ivy restaurant. You walk in to a bright and open space, the wallpaper is so extravagant. The attention to detail in The Ivy Norwich is incredible. I wouldn’t expect anything else though.

Visiting The Ivy Brasserie is like visiting an art gallery. There is artwork on every wall! The pattern are all mix and match but they really work. If I had to sum up that it looked in one word it would be instagrammable. Definitely Instagram friendly, with its gorgeous walls, seating and table set ups. It is the perfect place to capture the odd sneaky Insta snap while you are there. The ladies toilets are beautiful, I’ve never seen anything like it. The design of the restaurant is outstanding.

To the food. Probably the most important part of my visit. The breakfast menu is the perfect mix of healthy and indulgence. It has something for every diet and includes what you would find at a traditional breakfast as well as smoothies and juices. While at The Ivy I decided to try for my breakfast; breakfast pastries, eggs benedict and Ivy afternoon blend tea. As you would expect the service and the presentation of the food was excellent. The portion sizes are better than I thought. I have visited The Ivy West and the portions were on the small size. The eggs benedict is delicious, the perfect way to start the day. It is 2 English muffins topped with poached eggs, pulled honey roast ham, hollandaise sauce and watercress. To go with the eggs benedict, the Ivy afternoon tea is some of the best tea I have ever drunk. I am a tea drinker and I don’t like to coffee so I can’t comment on how the coffee is.

Now lets talk prices. Obviously it isn’t going to be chain pub prices, you have to remember that you are paying for a special service. The staff are fantastic and the food is incredible. Personally I don’t think breakfast isn’t too expensive. The Ivy Brasserie in Norwich is the ideal place to go if you want a high end setting with yummy food.
