If you follow me on social media then you will know that we went away for the weekend for the first time in a LONG time and visited a place that has been on our wish list! We spent the weekend in Kent and explored more of the UK that we haven’t before.

The only other time we have ever visited Kent was a very quick stop off trip when we were on board the Eurostar to Disneyland Paris. We didn’t actually get off the train or explore so that doesn’t actually count, does it?!

One of the places that I have wanted to visit for such a long time is Port Lympne Reserve and Hotel. It is located close to Dover and I have seen so many people visit and it has always looked like somewhere that I would love to take my children. Port Lympne isn’t your normal ‘zoo’. It is a reserve and is all about conservation and looking after animals that are vulnerable. Port Lympne is popular on social media too, it is such a beautiful place, even before seeing the animals, the whole place is amazing. The hotel and accommodation is incredible and we went for the day but it is now on my list of places to stay over night. I have my eye on the tiger lodge but I know that is now booked for the whole of 2020 so that will have to happen in 2021.

If you haven’t seen it before, the accommodation is like nothing I have seen before. It is practially in with the animals. The lodges have glass walls that look in to different enclosures and you really feel like you are there with nature. It is incredible!

The animals have so much room and I felt like they were free to go anywhere in there enclosure without feeling like they have to be on show. It is lovely to see and they seemed so happy. There is a good range of animals and you can go on the safari to see even more. The reserve is more than 600 acres, there is so much space!

It is an amazing place and within the first 10 minutes of being there, we knew that we were going to have a lovely day out and fell in love with Port Lympne. We could have watched the gorillas all day , they were playing and looked so happy! Not to mention that they are beautiful animals!

We would definitely recommened visiting Port Lympne Reserve and trust me, you will fall in love with it! The reserve has brilliant facilities and you could easily spend the whole day there. It is hilly but you can also rent golf buggies if that is easier for you. The staff are very friendly and they made the place feel even more special. Staying is on our wishlist now and I keep looking at all the posts on social media from people that are there now and I am so jealous!

If you are thinking of going then definitely do it! You will not regret it!
