Wake Up Kick Ass! WUKA is a period pants brand and I have been testing driving 2 pairs of their reusable pants over the last few weeks.
This is the first time I have used anything like period pants and to be honest, I really didn’t know what to expect. So a bit about me, I have horrible periods. I always have done and before I had the kids, I was being seen at the hospital for endometriosis due to how bad they were. I have also taken medication for them too. So I was a bit worried about using period pants.
So WUKA period pants are made so you don’t have to use any other period products. They have 3 layers so you are protected from leaks.
The pants last all together for about 2 years and you can wear them for up to 8 hours a day depending on your flow.
There are low flow pants which hold 1-2 tampons of blood and heavy flow which hold up to 4 tampons of blood. You know your flow best so definitely do some reading on the WUKA website.
WUKA also do a variety of products. High waist, mid brief, bikini brief, WUKA bralette, WUKA hot water bottle and they also do a WUKA first period pack.
The first period pack is great for tweens aged 9-13 and it gets them prepared for starting their period. The pack comes with a pair of period pants, a book all about periods and growing up and a wash bag. They also do the book in a version for children with Autism. Which I think is an amazing idea!
My experience of WUKA period pants
Like I said before, I didn’t know what to expect so when they arrived, I was surprised at how discreet they are. They are black pants with WUKA details.
I got a pair of high waisted and a pair of mid brief. The high waisted was in medium flow and the mid brief was in heavy flow.
Straight away, I loved the way that they look . They have mesh details on both the pairs of pants and on the mid brief they have WUKA around the top of the pant.
The ‘pad’ part of the pants is super comfortable as well and you hardly even know it is there. The pants are also really lovely to wear and they definitely do their job while looking good as well.
I have to say that it was a strange feeling to start of with as you are used to using other period products so if did feel odd to just be using a pair of pants but after a day, I got used to it.
They did exactly what they were meant to do and I am definitely converted now and will be using WUKA period pants from now on.
As well as being comfortable and practical, they are also amazing for the planet. So many period products are thrown away everyday so to be able to use a reusable product helps alot!
I wish I had known about WUKA after having the kids as I would have used them after having a baby too.
