A few months ago, I shared my smear experience again. I have been sharing my smear experience for the past 3 years as I have always been HPV positive. Until June of this year when my smear came back with abnormal cells.
A Colposcopy is a test that takes a closer look at the cervix. Biopsies can be taken and treatment can be done there and then. I won’t go in to too much detail as it isn’t the nicest experience in the world but it is one that needs to be done. There are many different websites that have some great infomation about smears and Colposcopy. It is good to read about it beforehand.
After having my treatment, I did have some pain and even the next day I am still having pain. Pain killers are helping though. I keep telling myself that having a bit of pain is better than what the alternative could have been if I hadn’t had my smear test.
It can be a really scary experience but it can save lives. The nurses that were in the room with me where amazing and they put my mins at ease. Everything was explained to me in detail too which helped. It is strange because I just asumed that my smear tests would be normal due to me being young but it turns out that it doesn’t matter if you are in your 20’s or your 40’s. It can happen to anyone.
Please book your smear test!
