Don’t Be Sorry – A Mother’s Candid Story About Down Syndrome

Don’t Be Sorry is the second book from Author and Blogger, Sarah Roberts. I revewed the first book and you can read the review here. The second book is out now and here is what I thought..

In the first book, Sarah Roberts wrote about her son, Oscar and their life as a family up until the age of 4 years old and this book is all about his life from the ages of 4 years until 9 years. She write about the highs and the lows. Nothing is sugar coated and it is a real life insight in to their life. Reading all about Oscar grow up is an amazing read. It breaks the stereotypes that can sometimes be assiotated with Down Syndrome. The book shows life as true as it can be.

It features photos of Oscar from Sarah’s blog as well as real life quotes from Sarah’s blog. The quotes are from parents of children with Down Syndrome that follow Sarah. They are real life people and that really adds to the book.

As a sibling to someone with Down Syndrome, this book really hits home. It shows that we are in this together. We are not alone. Even though sometimes it feels like we handle things as a family and it can feel a little isolating, the book shows that every family goes through similar situations.

Sarah writes about the struggles, the sadness and also the happiness and laughter. It is an honest book about what life is really like. Her blog helps so many families and the book do the same thing.

I read Don’t Be Sorry in a matter of days and just like the first one, I couldn’t put it down. It is candid and it is a rollercoaster of emotions. It could make you cry and make you laugh. It is such an incredible book and I really hope that Sarah Roberts continues to write books about Oscars life and their journey as a family.

It brings so much awareness to Down Syndrome and the book will show people what loving someone with Down Syndrome is really like. I believe that everyone should read Sarah’s books. They are eye opening and very hard to put down once you start reading them.
