Hamerton Zoo Park Review

We have been meaning to visit Hamerton Zoo Park for a little while now and last minute, we decided to visit.

As a family, we visit a lot of zoos. We have done most the ‘big’ ones in the UK but Hamerton Zoo is only 2 hours away from us and we have always decided to go somewhere else until one weekend, when we were near by and thought it would make a great family day out.

Hamerton Zoo Park is located close to Huntingdon and is easy to get too. It is in a small village and the zoo itself is set back from the road. There is a big car park and is very reasonably priced! An adult ticket is £16.99, a child ticket is £11.99 and under 3s are free. There are also free carers tickets for those who get DLA or PIP but you do have to prove this on the gate.

We found the zoo has a lot of animals that come from Austrialia which was lovely. It isn’t something that you normally see at a UK zoo. There are also white tigers, big cats, otters, primates and birds. Hamerton Zoo is a good size and it took us most of the day to explore. We do have one complaint about Hamerton and that is the train. We lined up for the train which allows you to see the Dinosaur trail. At no point were we told that we needed to go to the shop and by tickets. We waited for around 20 minutes and then were told by a member of the public and not the staff that they were closing the train. With many families waiting for the train, it meant alot of children were disappointed.

The food and drink was ok. There could have been more choice but you could always bring a pack up or snacks. There was so much to do and they have a great play area and a lovely shop!

The kids loved visiting and we would visit again if we are ever that way!
