Exploring Locally – Burnham Market International Horse Trials

What a way to start off the beginning of lockdown restrictions being eased, a day out at Burnham Market International Horse Trials!

The kids are obsessed with anything horse related at the moment! I am currently looking at riding lessons but I may have to rob a bank or sell a kidney first as the idea of having 3 children wanting to learn to ride scares me slightly!

Every year at Sussex Barn, there is the International Horse Trials. They are a pretty big event usually with alot of things to do for the whole family. Obviously with Covid things are different.

This year there was the normal stalls which sold very very tasty food as well as a few stalls that sold everything horse related!

The horse trials themselves are a big date in the calendar for the people competing. Over the weekend there is showjumping, dressage and cross country riding. There must of been 100 horses there when we visited on the Saturday and each one was beautiful!

We started off with watching showjumping and could see the dressage in the background then walked up the hill to watch the cross country which I have to say is a personal favourite of mine. The kids loved the whole day and it was lovely to be able to get out and see people and just enjoy ourselves.

The next horse trials are in the Autumn and we will be purchasing tickets for that too. The ticket prices are very reasonable which 7 of us getting in for around £30.

I would highly recommend visiting if you are in the area, it is a great family day out, especially if you have horse lovers in the family.
