Working with Asda and Dr hiliary Jones!

Working with Asda and Dr hiliary Jones!

Sometimes I can find it so hard to keep things a secret, more so when they are very exciting! So for the a long time I’ve been wanting to tell you all about Cleo’s work with Asda and Dr hiliary Jones but finally I can tell you everything!

Cleo was picked to be in a new series of short videos for Asdas Little Angels website to help parents with some of the most popular questions that regularly get asked. Cleo was picked to be in the short video for bathtime (very fitting considering the hair!)

We had to travel down to the shoot in London for the day. It went amazingly well considering this is Cleo’s first time doing anything like this!

To celebrate these short videos I was invited (baby and child free) to the world-famous Ivy for lunch. It was heaven!

Thank you to Asda and to Dr Hiliary Jones and to Myriad PR for the amazing experience!

Here is the video: Baby bath time tips with Dr hiliary Jones

Infinite Mommy  Breastfeeding cover – Bringing  me confidence in breastfeeding in public!

We live in a society where it is now more popular than ever to breastfeed. While more woman are choosing to breastfeed there does seem to be a slight increase in seeing more woman being publicly ‘shamed’ for breastfeeding out and about.

Personally with Elsa I only feed her myself for a couple of week as I found it very difficult because of this I was even more determined to breastfeed Cleo for longer.

My biggest fear however was and still slighty is feeding her in a busy public place. You see all over the news and social media about woman being breastfeeding shamed. While I was looking though my social media feed I came across something that I thought would help solve my anxiety over feeding out of the house.

Introducing the Infinite Mommy breastfeeding cover

These beautiful well made covers come in many colour options and come with the added luxury of an adjustable leather neck strap. They are structured meaning you don’t have to worry about anything being over your baby’s face. I have been using my Infinite Mommy cover now for the past couple of weeks and I can defiantly say it has improved my confidence . The cover has 2 pockets on the front to hold items such as your mobile phone. As for the packaging, it is beautiful! The cover comes in its own bag to keep it protected in your bag. When I received it in the post I was amazed that it had such high-end looking packaging! It would make a perfect present for any breastfeeding mummy!

As well as allowing you to comfortably breastfeed, the cover is such a sleek and stylish design. Made from Organic cotton, it is soft and is perfect for those precious bonding moments with your baby at any stage of your breastfeeding journey.

Christmas decorating trends you need to know about in 2017

Not long now till the Christmas tree goes up, the doors begin to fly open on the advent calendars, and we start the real countdown to Christmas. But if you’re in need of some inspiration for your home this year, these are the decorating trends you need to know about in 2017.

Pearlescent

This decor trend for Christmas 2017 is definitely one of the prettiest trends on this list. With mesmerising colour shafts, pearlescent decorations catch your eye quite simply because they change colour as the light catches them. Incredibly pretty, these look gorgeous on the tree as the fairy lights twinkle and the translucent sheen is visible.

Quirky touches

Pugs, llamas, popcorn, jellyfish, donuts and more, it seems that pretty much the quirkier the better when it comes to Christmas decorations this year. All done in the loudest of colours, these Christmas decorations will definitely make a statement during the festive period, and will no doubt leave you feeling peckish too. Asda have an excellent selection of loud and diverse decorations that provide an interesting take on decorating your tree this year. The pom pom garlands are another must have decoration that comes with this trend, it really is bright and beautiful.

Lights, lights and more lights

And these just aren’t you’re normal fairy lights either, there are reindeers, snowmen, snowflakes and more. It’s time to make your home shine bright with an array of lights. Wrap them around your staircase banister, line fireplaces, frame doorways and more. These are a great way of adding an extra decoration to the room, plus they’re the perfect way to decorate the exterior of your house too.
Hanging icicle lights hanging from windows or the fascias of your house is a simple but gorgeous way to get your exterior ready for the festive season. Plus, if you have a porch you could add in a little tree and switch on your porch lights to show off your small nod to Christmas decor.

The metallic takeover

Metallic colours at Christmas are nothing new really, we’re used to seeing silver and gold adorn trees and decorations, but this year there’s a new metallic to embrace, copper. The rise of rose gold has seeped into Christmas decor and there are plenty of rose, copper and bronze-coloured decorations to have this year. This colour exudes decadence and looks beautiful paired with rich tones like navy and emerald.

Creature Teacher by Becky Robbins book review

Creature Teacher by Becky Robbins book review

Over the past couple of weeks Elsa and I have been reading Creature Teacher by Becky Robbin. It is a new book to help encourage children with learning to count to ten, it is perfect for young children as it is jam-packed with bright and fun illustrations. These give visual help when it comes to learning their numbers. Due to Creature Teacher’s very fun and colourful look, it  really appeals to young children and toddlers. Elsa is really enjoying flicking through the book and as well as counting along with me, she is also learning the different types of animals that are also mentioned in the book.

The book itself is a great size, It is just the right length to sit down with your child for a short period of time, maybe just before bed or when you have 5 minutes spare in the day. The book is A5 size so still perfect for little hands but not too small that the font is tiny and you have trouble reading the words.  The layout in the book means that it is an easy read, with the left hand side featuring the rhymes and the right hand side featuring the cute animal illustrations. For every number there is a little rhyme, in some ways that helps the book flow easy for children and some children may be able to remember how to count to ten by mesmerizing the short little rhymes.

We have really noticed with Elsa that she really loves to learn, so a book like this is ideal. If you have a children or know of one that is soon to start nursery or preschool, Creature Teacher would help so much with developing their learning of counting to ten. It is a clever little book that could make a big impact on your child’s knowledge!

A bit about the author – Becky Robbins

Becky has a love for children and for animals which is what has inspired her to write. She has published 3 books and had written several more.

The ultimate gift guide for children with additional needs

The ultimate gift guide for children with additional needs

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

When you are buying for a child with additional needs it can sometimes be quite tricky. There are many factors to think about:  Is the product right for the children in regards to ability?  Will it benefit them to have this product? How long will it last them? It is worth the price tag?

That is where this gift guide comes in handy,  whether it is for christmas, birthday or just a special gift this guide will tell you what we think is the ultimate present. Rory has got a list as long as my arm of medical conditions that may have an influence on what we buy him. As well as Down Syndrome, Rory also has hearing loss and cataracts so he has sight loss. He has hypermobility which affects his muscles. I seem to always be on the look out for good toys for Rory as things like sensory toys are very important in his development.

This list will help guide you in the right direction in finding the perfect toy, Rory has tested out all of these products in the list so we are now a bit more about them and can tell you exactly how they helped him.

ToddleBike2*- We reviewed this a couple of weeks back after we were sent it, blog post link below. Originally the bike was meant to be tested by Elsa as I didn’t think Rory would have much interest. As Rory has hypermobility this means that his knee and shoulders can pop out of the socket, he basically dislocates his joints himself. In effect this can sometimes affect his balance and Rory is prone to falling over randomly when walking. Because of this we thought he wouldn’t be ready for a bike just yet BUT he has taken to the ToddleBike2 and races round on it all day everyday! It’s a great gift! Plus ToddleBike as a company has a great outlook on children with additional needs, I absolutely love their attitude and believe more companies should be like this!

Homemade sensory tunnel – We got this idea from Rory’s old Portage worker. As Jonny is a carpet fitter we found that old carpet tubes are a brilliant size to use as sensory tubes with flashy balls. We covered Rory’s in bright blue carpet to give it more of a toy like look and feel. Used with a bright flashy ball this is brilliant and cheap way to make homemade sensory toy.

Not my Books – This one is great depending on the age of the child. Not My Books come in loads and loads of different varieties from animals to vehicles. They can be found relatively cheaply and can be collected to have the whole set. Inside they have a story with corresponding touchy feely pictures. They use different textures and materials to create this books that can be enjoyed by children of all ages.

Sensory Pack* – Sensory is a big part of helping children with additional needs. It can help with fine motor skills, colours, language and so much more. Using sensory to support learning is encourage  and it is also great fun! We were kindly sent a brilliant sensory pack from Sensory Treasures and we are amazed by the variety of items in the pack. At Sensory Treasures they ask you what interests the person has so that the pack or basket is bespoke to them and is perfect for their needs. From a flashy ball to a foil blanket, this sensory pack has all bases covered!

VR headset*- This interactive head set from Utopia 4D+ can also be used with just a phone or tablet if you child isn’t keen on having the headset on. You place the animal cards on a flat surface and watch them come alive on your phone. You can feed them with the special food cards that also come in the pack. It is the ultimate sensory experience for children that also need something visual in front of them to help them learn. There is a wide variety of animals in the pack and the graphics used to create the animals is great and the animals really do look real on your table. They also make space exploration and dinosaur experience as well as animal zoo so all bases are covered and  it is fun and educational for the whole family.

Shnooks are a new children’s toy with a unqiue difference. They are big balls of fluff that basically come flat packed! When you open your Shnook from its packaging it grows to 8X it’s size. You open it, shake it and then style it. Included in the packet is a comb, hair clips and 4 secret hair bands. These are included so you can style your Shnooks funky hair in whatever style you want! I feel like they are a mixture of a cuddly toy and a styling head.

There is a big selection of Shnooks to pick from, they make them in loads of colour variations and there is 6 to collect. Each Shnook has its own name and best friend saying. They can give you courage and might to give you warmth so bright. You will want to collect them all!
