January can be a tough month when it comes to money. It’s a long month and we have just had the big occasion that is Christmas so money can be very tight. B&M are known for their big bargains so I set myself a challenge this month.

I challenged myself to see what I could buy with £20 at my local B&M (Kings Lynn). I spent about 30 minutes in the store wondering what to buy, my first plan was baby and toddler products then home products. But after looking there was too many bargains and sale items so I then decided that my challenge would just be any items that they sell and not just a specific range.

Thanks to 2 must have Disney item I failed my challenged and my total came to £25.94 and I brought 11 items!!

Here’s what I got my hands on!

There’s a trend at the moment for light boxes, I already own one so I wanted something different and that is when I spotted this Light message box. It is a mirror that you can write on that is surrounded by LED lights. This cost £3.99 in the sale. I decided to go for more household items, B&M stock a lot of house decorations and accessories from canvases to candles. I brought 2 canvases for my living room both with quotes about loving your home and also light up, these were an amazing bargain at just £1 each! My next favourite bargain is for my kitchen but it could be placed any where. It is a chalk board with key holders and a shelf, this is so handy for your little bit and bobs as well as all those important messages that you have to remember and the best thing is was only £2.49 in the sale. B&M had a good range of handy product that only cost £1. I brought myself a new mug for my morning brew, a gorgeous scented candle and a funny slogan plaque all priced at £1. For Elsa I picked up a messy play apron, priced at £1.99 for when she is playing with paints at home or cooking with nanny and a 3 pack of sensory bouncy balls priced at £2.49.

Now to my must have Disney products that made me go slightly over my budget! B&M now stock their very own Chip mug. A must for any Beauty and the Beast fan and it was a bargain at only £3.99. I also managed to find a Mrs Potts money box! This was £5.99 and I think is worth every penny!

I am so happy with all my bargains that I picked up and I can’t see what they have next time I go in the store!

We have been testing out and playing with the Ascent Dirt scooter from Skates that was kindly sent to us. It’s not the regular scooter that everyone knows, it is a stunt dirt scooter!

When you think of a scooter the first thing that comes to mind for me is a kiddies character scooter. The Ascent Dirt scooter is not a scooter for small kiddies. In fact it would be suitable for adults to use as well. The height (83cm from top to bottom) and weight of the scooter means that it can be used by a wide range of ages from around 10 years plus. The scooter is fitted with air-filled dirt tyres so it can be used on many different surfaces.

The handle bars of the scooter turn 360 degrees and are fitted with tough handle grips. These added features are great if you are looking to use this scooter for stunts. As well as it being made for stunts it can be used as a daily ride about scooter. It’s bright and colourful design really does draw attention to the scooter. It also comes in red and black as well as the  blue which we tested out. The deck of the scooter is covered in a colour matched grip tape. The Ascent Dirt scooter is solid and heavy-duty so I would expect it to last years and years.

We used the scooter on grass and on tarmac and it rode really well. It was tested by Reilly, Jonny and myself. We can all say that we had great fun riding it around and I am hoping to take it to the beach in the summer to see it if it is possible to ride it on sand.

Delivery from Skates was very quick. The scooter came in 3 parts but was easy to put together and it took around 5 minutes before we had it put together. The scooter is a fixed piece and is non foldable scooter and the handle bar is not adjustable.  Although the price is slightly up there when it comes to scooters, I would completely recommend it as it is very well made and you are going to get many years of fun out of it.

Lottie Dolls are age appropriate inspirational dolls. Elsa has been testing out the Stargazer Lottie Doll. The Stargazer doll is nothing we had every seen before. Lottie comes with her very own telescope, tripod and solar system collector cards. My favourite feature of the doll ( as a mummy to 2 daughters) is that it comes with a fact sheet all about the notable women in astronomy. We are now part of a society that encourages young girls to do and be whatever they want to and the whole concept of the Lottie doll really does encourage this.

Stargazer Lottie comes dressed in a bomber jacket, dungarees, a t-shirt, spotted scarf, hat and brown boots. Perfect for a cold night of stargazing. This special gold edition Lottie doll is in collaboration with the ESA, European Space Agency. The Stargazer Lottie couldn’t be more amazing right? Well it also won an award at the Space Age Awards in 2015. Standing at 15cm, Lottie dolls are perfect for older children, from around toddler age.  Lottie dolls come in a huge range of options from Muddy Puddles Lottie to Brownie Lottie. As well as loads and loads of accessories such as a horse and stables. Lottie dolls are cute and inspiring for young girls, what more could you want?!

Children get so many toys whether it is their Birthday or Christmas so sometimes it is a lovely change to be gifted new clothing pieces to brighten up your child’s wardrobe. As a parent you can sometimes stick to the same type of style for your kids. When you are gifted clothing or even footwear it can show you other style alternatives that you many have stayed away from. I find clothing and footwear a great gift for kids!

Here are two of our favourite shops at the moment!

Chipmunks Footwear

Chipmunks footwear is an online store that sells a large collection and variety of children’s footwear. From boots to slippers to school shoes, Chipmunks seemed to have it covered. They have footwear available for babies and older children. Cleo has a pair of their Lottie bunny slippers and they came beautifully packaged in a branded box while the slippers themselves were wrapped up in branded tissue paper. The slippers and so soft and they look and feel like great quality.  These would make a gorgeous baby shower gift aswell as birthday or christmas. On the other hand Elsa has a pair of Chipmunks Princess wellies. Elsa practically lives in wellies half the time as she is a child that will jump in a puddle at any given opportunity. These princess wellies are 2 tones of pink with unicorns, fairy’s and crowns covering them. The design is bright and fun, the wellies themselves so far have been completely waterproof!

Alex and Alexa Clothing 

We first came across Alex and Alexa on Instagram. They sell designer baby and children clothing as well as footwear. They seem to have a huge selection of designers and styles. It is a one stop shops for trends for tiny people. Cleo and Elsa have a few outfits from Alex and Alexa and I am so impressed with the quality and they sell everything in one place so you don’t have to go searching for hours for those special pieces for your little ones wardrobe!
